Johnny sat on the edge of his bed, his small hands gripping the edge tightly. Today was a big day—his first at Brookview Montessori. "I'm nervous, Mom," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.
His mom knelt beside him, her eyes soft and reassuring. "You'll do great, sweetheart. Remember to be yourself and have fun," she encouraged, wrapping him in a warm hug.
Johnny clung to his mom's hand as they walked toward the entrance. Inside, the hallway was alive with laughter and chatter. Johnny felt a heaviness in his chest as he realized it was time to say goodbye.
"I love you, Mom," he murmured, trying to hold back tears. His mom smiled, brushing a stray tear from his cheek. "I love you too, Johnny. I'll see you soon," she said, giving him one last hug before leaving.
Johnny walked in, feeling a little lost but intrigued by the vibrant environment. As he looked around, he noticed Lila at a table, her fingers covered in paint as she worked on a masterpiece.
"Hi, I'm Lila! Do you want to paint with me?" she asked, her eyes bright and welcoming. Johnny smiled shyly and nodded, taking a seat beside her.
Max noticed Johnny and Lila at the table and came over, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Want to join my treasure hunt later? We can explore the playground!" he suggested.
"That sounds fun!" replied Johnny, feeling his earlier nerves melt away. Together, the trio made plans for their adventure.
Johnny, Lila, and Max dashed across the field, their imaginations running wild. They pretended to be explorers, searching for hidden treasures and secret paths.
"Look, I found a magic stone!" Lila exclaimed, holding up a shiny pebble. "And here's a map!" Max added, drawing lines in the dirt with a stick.
Johnny felt a warmth in his heart as he looked at Lila and Max. "I'm glad I came to school today," he said, smiling.
"We make a great team," Max declared, raising his hand for a high-five. The three friends laughed, knowing that this was just the beginning of their adventures together.
