In a quaint house nestled among a row of similar homes, Caroline stood in the kitchen, preparing breakfast. Her three children, Léwis, Nathan, and Mahélie, were seated at the table, their plates filled with pancakes and syrup.
"Today is a big day for all of you," she said with a warm smile. Léwis looked up from his plate, a hint of worry in his eyes. Mahélie was practically bouncing in her chair, unable to contain her excitement, while Nathan was busy making funny faces with his pancakes, sending giggles across the table.
Caroline knelt beside Léwis, gently adjusting his collar. Léwis fiddled with the straps of his backpack, his mind occupied with thoughts of the unknown. "You'll be just fine, sweetheart. Remember, everyone else is just as new as you are."
Nathan, meanwhile, was spinning in circles, his backpack swinging wildly behind him. Mahélie joined in, her laughter echoing through the room. "School is going to be so much fun, Léwis! We'll make tons of friends!"
"I can't wait to see what our classroom looks like," Mahélie exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. Léwis climbed into the car slowly, taking comfort in the presence of his siblings.
Caroline closed the car door and took a deep breath. "Off we go, my brave explorers," she said, starting the engine. As the car rolled out of the driveway, she glanced in the rearview mirror, meeting Léwis's eyes, offering a reassuring smile.
Léwis clutched his backpack tightly as they approached the school entrance. Caroline walked beside him, her hand gently resting on his shoulder. "Remember, just be yourself, and everything will fall into place," she whispered.
"What if no one likes me?" Léwis asked, his voice barely audible over the noise.
"You're a wonderful boy, and anyone would be lucky to have you as a friend," Caroline assured him.
Mahélie dashed ahead, pulling Nathan with her. "Let's find our classroom, Nathan!" she shouted, her excitement infectious.
Nathan looked back at Léwis, offering a thumbs-up. "Come on, Léwis! We can't start our adventure without you!"
Léwis hesitated for a moment but then took a deep breath, feeling a surge of courage. He nodded and followed his siblings, the fear slowly melting away as he realized he wasn't alone.
As Léwis took his seat, he glanced around at the faces of his new classmates. A friendly smile from a girl sitting next to him eased his nerves. He took another calming breath and turned to introduce himself.
Caroline watched from the doorway, her heart swelling with pride. She knew this was just the beginning of a new chapter for her children, one filled with growth, learning, and friendships yet to be formed.
