Maya stretched beneath her cozy quilt, her heart fluttering with excitement and a pinch of nerves. Today was her first day at school, and she couldn't wait to see what awaited beyond the front gate.
"I wonder what my classroom will look like," she whispered, her voice tinged with curiosity.
Dad, tall and gentle, hands Maya her lunchbox decorated with cheerful sunflowers.
"You'll have a wonderful day, Maya. Just remember to be yourself and make lots of friends,"
Mom, with sparkling eyes, gives Maya a hug that squeezes away her worries.
"We can't wait to hear all about your adventures when you come home,"
Maya clutched her backpack straps as she walked through the gate, her eyes wide at the sea of new faces.
Mrs. Lee, the friendly teacher with curly hair and glasses, greeted everyone with a bright smile.
"Good morning, students! Find your name tags and join us for circle time,"
Maya found her seat next to Noah, a boy with freckles and a dinosaur t-shirt.
"Hi! I like your backpack. Do you like dinosaurs too?"
"I do! My favorite is the stegosaurus," Maya replied, feeling a smile spread across her face.
Maya joined Noah and a group of classmates for a game of tag, her worries melting away as she ran and giggled.
"You're fast, Maya! Let's build a sandcastle next,"
Maya beamed, her heart full of new memories and friends.
"I can't wait to come back tomorrow," she thought, waving goodbye to her teacher and classmates as she walked out, feeling proud and brave.
