Aamir rubbed his eyes, feeling the excitement bubbling in his chest. Today was the day he would join the adults in fasting. "I'm ready, Nano," he declared, his voice determined yet edged with uncertainty. Nano, with her silver hair tied back neatly and eyes sparkling with pride, handed him a banana milkshake for suhoor. "Hurry up, beta. There's never enough time to eat enough," she encouraged.
In the morning wore on, Aamir felt the first pangs of hunger. Soon, his friend Rafi came by and asked him up to play soccer. Aamir forgot all about his stomach and joined his friends in the park, the ball weaving between them like a dancing flame. Aamir cheered as he scored, his energy dipping but his spirit unyielding.
Once home, Aamir's mind wandered to thoughts of food and water. Nano hugged him, settling down with a gentle sigh. "Fasting is not just about eating and drinking beta," she said, her eyes thoughtful. "It's about understanding patience and gratitude, thankful for what we have, and thinking of those who have less." Aamir nodded, absorbing her words.
As the call to prayer echoed at the end of the day, Aamir and Nano gathered with the rest of the family to break their fast. Around the table, laden with dates, fruits, and savory dishes, Aamir found his favourite - ramen noodles.
As the adhaan finished, Aamir picked up his date, his heart pounding with anticipation. Together they all prayed, "O Allah! I fasted for You and with your provision Io I break my fast.""Bismillah," he whispered, breaking his fast with a small bite. Nano smiled at him, her pride evident. "Eat up, beta," Nano reminded everyone. "We will have to leave for teh masjid soon."
That night, Aamir lay in bed, the day's events replaying in his mind. He felt a deep sense of calm and fulfillment, a connection to something greater than himself. "Thank you, Allah, for guiding me through my first fast," he whispered, his eyes drifting closed, already dreaming of the fasts to come.
