Wanele clutched his backpack tightly, standing next to his twin brother Okwanele on the sidewalk. The air was crisp, and as the bus doors opened with a hiss, their hearts raced with a mixture of excitement and nerves.
Wanele took a deep breath as they stepped inside, eyes wide at the vibrant chaos. Okwanele nudged him, pointing to an empty seat. As they settled in, the bus rumbled to life, the sound of music playing softly from a speaker above.
Thandi, a girl from their class.<span data-type="mention" class="mention" data-id="3" data-label="" style="background-color: hsla(51, 100%, 90%, 0.3); color: hsl(51, 100%, 40%)"></span>," she said brightly. Her bubbly personality was infectious, and soon the twins found themselves laughing along with her stories about the school and the adventures they could have.
Wanele felt a knot in his stomach as he thought about leaving the comfort of their mom's car. "Do you think we'll make friends?" Okwanele whispered, echoing his thoughts.
"I think we already have," Wanele replied, glancing at Thandi and the other students chatting animatedly. His initial fears were fading, replaced by the thrill of new beginnings and the promise of friendship.
Okwanele looked at his brother with a grin. "Let's make this our best year yet," he said with newfound determination. As they stepped off the bus, Wanele nodded, ready to embrace the adventure ahead.
