Jenna, a timid twelve-year-old, walked through the crowded corridor, clutching her books tightly. Today felt like any other day, until she noticed a discomfort she couldn't quite place. The feeling gnawed at her as she found her seat in class, a sense of unease creeping in.
Jenna hurried into the restroom, her heart pounding with a mix of confusion and fear. She locked herself in a stall, her mind racing. In that moment, the realization hit her like a wave, and she panicked. She had her period and had no idea what to do.
Maya, a confident classmate with a reputation for being approachable, walked in. Catching sight of Jenna's distressed face, she immediately approached. "Hey, are you okay?" she asked, genuine concern in her voice.
Jenna, embarrassed, hesitated before admitting her predicament. Maya smiled reassuringly, her demeanor calm and collected. "Don't worry, we've all been there," she said, rummaging through her bag. "I can help you out."
Maya handed Jenna a pad, explaining its use with gentle patience. "It's not as scary as it seems," she assured, guiding her step by step. As they talked, Jenna felt her anxiety slowly dissipate, replaced by a sense of relief.
Emerging from the bathroom together, Jenna and Maya shared a newfound bond. "Thank you so much," Jenna said, gratitude shining in her eyes. Maya shrugged with a smile, "Anytime. We've got to stick together, right?" They returned to their classrooms, the world feeling a little less daunting with a friend by their side.
