Faris, a cheerful young pilot with a big smile and even bigger dreams, adjusts his captain’s hat in the cockpit of his small, shiny airplane. Today is the first day of Ramadan, and he is determined to fast, even as he gets ready to fly all the way from Cairo to Jakarta.
"I can do this! Flying and fasting, here I come!"
Faris looks out the window, watching the world shrink below. He checks his watch and remembers that suhoor, the pre-dawn meal, was very early today. His tummy rumbles, but he pats it gently.
"Patience, my friend. We can do this together!"
He sips water for the last time before starting his fast, grinning at the challenge ahead.
Inside the cockpit, Faris checks his navigation charts and glances at the clock. He knows that fasting while flying is tricky—sometimes the day seems longer when you chase the sun! He wiggles his toes and hums his favorite Ramadan song to keep his spirits high.
Faris covers his nose and giggles.
"Nope! Not yet, Faris! You can wait until sunset,"
he tells himself, pretending his nose is a superhero shield against yummy smells. He remembers how his family always says fasting is about patience, kindness, and remembering those who have less.
Faris grins wide, quickly checking the time for iftar—the meal to break his fast. He opens his little lunchbox packed with dates, water, and a note from his mom that says, "We’re proud of you!" He whispers a prayer and takes a sweet, juicy bite of a date.
"Alhamdulillah! I did it, even in the sky!"
Faris waves at the ground crew and feels proud. He remembers that Ramadan is about trying your best, wherever you are—even flying through clouds! He can’t wait to tell his family all about his flying fasts and celebrate Eid together.
"Next year, maybe I’ll fast on the moon!" he laughs, imagining a crescent moon-shaped airplane soaring through space.
