Maya, a little girl with curly hair and a shy smile, clutches her backpack tightly as she stands by the door. She watches other children laughing and chatting, feeling a flutter of nerves in her stomach. The teacher, Ms. Lee, greets each student with a warm smile, her voice gentle and encouraging. Maya takes a deep breath and steps inside, her heart pounding with a mix of hope and worry.
Ms. Lee claps her hands gently, gathering everyone’s attention. "Good morning, class! Today, we’re going to talk about making new friends and sharing," she says, her eyes twinkling. Maya glances at the girl beside her, Zane, who is building a tower of blocks. "Hi, I’m Maya," she whispers, hoping to start a conversation.
Zane looks up and grins, his eyes bright. "Do you want to build with me?" he asks, sliding some of his blocks towards Maya. Hesitant but excited, Maya reaches out, her fingers trembling as she places a block on the tower. "Thank you for sharing, Ben," she says softly, her smile growing.
Ms. Lee[/@ch_2] gathers the children for a story. Plush cushions and a big storybook create a welcoming nook.]
"Sharing makes our classroom a happier place," Ms. Lee reads, turning the colorful pages. The children listen closely, their eyes wide as they hear about animals who learn to share and become friends. Ms. Lee looks at Maya and Zane, nodding warmly.
Maya notices Olivia, a new girl sitting alone with her snack untouched. "Would you like to sit with us, Sophie?" Maya asks, sliding over to make room. Olivia nods shyly, her eyes brightening as Zane offers her a cracker from his plate.
Ms. Lee smiles as she looks around at the happy faces. "Today, you all showed what it means to be good friends," she says. Maya beams, realizing she has made new friends, and the room fills with laughter and warmth, the promise of many more shared days to come.
