Shiay stood alone at the edge of the park, his eyes following the soccer ball as it rolled across the lush green field. The sun shone brightly, casting warm rays over the playground scattered with children laughing and playing in groups. Yet, Shiay felt a pang of loneliness in his heart, wishing he had someone to share his passion for soccer with.
"I just wish I had a friend to play with," he murmured to himself, kicking the ball gently.
As Shiay continued practicing alone, a gentle breeze swept through the park, carrying laughter from a nearby group. Suddenly, he noticed a boy watching him from a distance. The boy had a bright smile and a spark of excitement in his eyes. He approached Shiay with a friendly wave.
Abreham, a cheerful Habesha boy with a love for soccer, introduced himself. "Hi! I'm Abreham. You play soccer really well!"
"Thanks! I'm Shiay. Do you want to join me?" Shiay asked, his heart lifting with hope.
With a nod, Abreham joined Shiay, and together they began to practice passing the ball back and forth. The sun-dappled field became their playground, filled with sounds of laughter and the thud of the soccer ball.
"You're really good at this, Shiay! We make a great team," Abreham exclaimed, a smile stretching across his face.
"I haven't had this much fun in a long time," Shiay admitted, feeling the warmth of friendship bloom within him.
As the day wore on, clouds began to gather in the sky, casting a shadow over the park. Despite the looming weather, Shiay and Abreham decided to challenge themselves to a friendly match against another group of children.
"Let's show them what we've got!" Abreham cheered, determination in his voice.
"Together, we can do this," Shiay agreed, feeling confident with his new friend by his side.
As they played, raindrops began to fall, but neither Shiay nor Abreham were deterred. They worked seamlessly as a team, their movements synchronized, and soon their teamwork paid off with a triumphant goal.
"We did it!" Shiay shouted, his voice filled with joy.
"I knew we would," Abreham replied, their cheers echoing through the park as they celebrated their victory.
As the rain subsided, a rainbow arched across the sky, casting a colorful backdrop to their newfound friendship. Shiay and Abreham sat on the grass, breathless but happy.
"I'm glad I met you, Abreham," Shiay said, feeling a deep sense of gratitude.
"Me too, Shiay. Let's always be friends, no matter what," Abreham suggested, extending his hand.
With a firm handshake, they sealed their promise, knowing that together, they could overcome any challenge and share countless adventures on and off the soccer field.
