Luca the monkey, with his strong arms and bright eyes, swings from a branch above his friends, a small backpack slung over his shoulder. Below, Marco the mouse adjusts his tiny glasses, tinkering with a homemade map of the zoo. Cass the turtle watches them both, a thoughtful smile on his face, sketchbook clutched in his claws.
"Are you both ready for another adventure? The zoo is waiting for us!"
"Let’s explore the north garden today! I heard there’s a new animal living there," Marco suggests, pointing at the map.
"I hope we meet someone who needs our help," Cass adds, his shell glinting in the sunlight.
Mr. Gorilla[/@ch_4] sits, shoulders hunched and eyes sad.]
Luca peeks over the fence, waving to Mr. Gorilla, who only grunts and turns away. The other animals keep their distance, whispering nervously as they pass the enclosure.
"I heard he’s mean, but maybe he’s just lonely," Marco whispers, watching the gorilla trace circles in the dirt.
"Everyone deserves a friend. Maybe we can help," Cass says bravely.
"Let’s find someone who will be his friend," Luca decides, determination lighting his face.
Mr. Gorilla[/@ch_4]'s friend.]
First, they visit the parrots, who squawk nervously and shake their feathers. Then, they try the zebras, who stamp their hooves and say they are too busy. Even the wise old owl shakes her head from her perch.
"Why is everyone so afraid?" Marco wonders, sadness creeping into his voice.
"We can’t give up. Someone must be brave enough," Luca encourages.
"Let’s try the quiet part of the zoo. Sometimes, the loneliest animals are the kindest," Cass suggests.
Mr. Squirrel[/@ch_8], a small gray squirrel with twitching whiskers, gathers acorns alone. His eyes light up as the trio approaches, his fluffy tail flicking nervously.]
"Hi, Mr. Squirrel! We’re looking for someone who might want a new friend," Luca says kindly.
"I’ve always wanted a friend, but everyone is so busy. Who is it?" Mr. Squirrel asks, hope in his voice.
"It’s Mr. Gorilla. He’s big and quiet, but he’s very sad and lonely," Marco explains.
"He seems scary, but maybe we could try," Mr. Squirrel says bravely.
Mr. Gorilla[/@ch_4] together, Mr. Squirrel hiding behind Luca.]
"Mr. Gorilla, we brought someone who wants to meet you," Luca announces.
"Hello, Mr. Gorilla. Would you like to be friends?" Mr. Squirrel squeaks, his voice trembling.
"Me? You want to be my friend?" Mr. Gorilla asks, surprised. His eyes fill with tears of happiness as he gently smiles at the little squirrel.
"We want to be your friends too! Maybe you can teach us about the bamboo grove," Marco offers.
"We’ve heard you know all the best stories," Cass adds.
Mr. Gorilla[/@ch_4], Mr. Squirrel, and the three friends sit together, sharing fruit and stories on a soft patch of grass.]
Mr. Gorilla tells tales of jungle adventures, his deep voice rumbling with joy. Luca swings above, Marco invents a new game, and Cass doodles everyone, capturing the moment forever.
"Thank you for believing in me. I never thought I’d have friends like you,"
"Everyone needs a friend, Mr. Gorilla. Sometimes, you just have to be brave enough to look,"
And with that, the five friends look out over the zoo, knowing that together, anything is possible.
