Mia, a spirited 16-year-old with a mischievous grin, sprinted across the garden, her long hair trailing behind her like a banner of freedom. Hot on her heels was Jason, her 12-year-old brother, his eyes alight with determination as he tried to keep up. "You won't outrun me this time, Mia!" he shouted, his voice brimming with playful challenge.
Jason burst through the backdoor first, his small frame silhouetted against the kitchen light. He skidded to a stop in the living room, triumphant. Mia followed closely behind, her breath coming in soft pants. "Alright, alright, you win," she conceded, ruffling his hair affectionately.
Mia crouched down, offering her back to Jason. "Hop on, champ. You've earned a ride," she said, grinning. With a delighted whoop, Jason climbed on, and Mia carried him around the house, both of them giggling all the way.
Mia sat down, pulling Jason onto her lap. He squirmed, trying to free himself, but Mia held him tight, laughter in her eyes. "You'll never escape me, little brother. You'll always be my sweet little toy," she teased, her voice filled with affection.
Jason finally relaxed against Mia, his head resting on her shoulder. "I guess being your toy isn't so bad," he admitted, a yawn escaping him. Mia smiled, pressing a kiss to his forehead. "It's a lifetime position, you know," she whispered, her voice tender.
Mia and Jason remained there, wrapped in the warmth of sibling love, their earlier race already a cherished memory. The world outside was vast and full of adventures yet to come, but for now, they were content in their small corner of it, together.
