Ellie, a curious girl with curly brown hair and big, wondering eyes, skips along the path carrying her favorite blue backpack. She stops to watch butterflies fluttering by and takes a deep breath of the fresh morning air. Today, she’s eager to explore the garden and see what adventures await her.
Max, Ellie's best friend, waves from the top of the slide. His green cap sits backward on his head, and he grins widely. "Hi Max! What do you want to play today?" "Let’s build a sandcastle! I brought my lucky shovel," he replies, his eyes shining with excitement.
Maya, a quiet girl with glasses and a gentle smile, watches from the edge. Ellie notices her sitting alone and waves her over. "Come join us, Maya! We’re making the tallest sandcastle ever," she calls. "I’d like that," Maya says softly, her cheeks turning pink with happiness.
Max frowns, clutching his shovel tightly. "Oh no! Our castle is gone," he says, his voice trembling. Ellie sighs, feeling disappointed. Maya looks down, her eyes filling with tears. "I feel sad, too. Let’s talk about how we feel," Ellie suggests, her voice gentle.
"I feel angry that our castle was ruined," Max admits, looking at his friends. "I feel a little scared to make another one, in case it gets knocked over again," Maya whispers. "It’s okay to feel sad or mad," Ellie says, smiling softly. "When we share our feelings, it helps us feel better together,"
"I feel happy now that we’re working together," Max says, wiping sand from his nose. "Me too! Sharing my feelings made me brave," Maya adds, her eyes sparkling. "Every feeling is important. When we talk about them, we help each other," Ellie concludes, and all three friends high-five, their hearts light with understanding.
