Tommy walked hand in hand with his mom, his eyes wide with excitement as he spotted a group of kids playing with a ball. Not far from them, a Siamese cat named Jaden lay stretched out on a sunlit patch of grass, her sleek fur shining like polished gold.
Tommy stopped in his tracks, his gaze fixed on Jaden. "Mom, can I go see the kitty?" he asked, his voice filled with wonder. His mom nodded, reminding him to be gentle.
Tommy knelt down close to Jaden, his small hand reaching out uncertainly. "Remember, Tommy, animals like it when you're gentle," his mom called from behind. Jaden looked up, her blue eyes meeting Tommy's.
Jaden nudged her head against Tommy's hand, and he giggled, feeling proud. "She likes it, Mom!" he exclaimed joyfully. "That's because you're being kind and gentle," his mom said, smiling at the sight.
Tommy watched as Jaden stretched lazily, then curled up beside him. "I'll always be gentle with animals," he promised, feeling a new bond with the little cat. "That's great, Tommy. Animals like Jaden need friends like you," his mom replied, giving him a hug.
Tommy looked back one last time at Jaden, who watched them with her serene gaze. "Bye, Jaden! See you soon!" he called, waving his hand. As they headed home, Tommy felt a sense of peace, knowing he had made a new furry friend.
