Dora, a brave little explorer with a kind heart, walked down the path with Boots, her cheerful monkey friend in red boots. They had been laughing and talking, but the forest suddenly felt much quieter than before, as if everything were holding its breath. Then a pale shape drifted out from behind a tree, floating above the ground with a long white sheet and glowing eyes.
"Dora, did you see that? I really, really saw a ghost, and I do not want to stay here one more second because it looks so spooky and floaty and scary!"
"I saw it too, Boots! We have to run for our lives and find someone who can help us right away before that ghost follows us down the path!"
The ghost let out a long, eerie moan that echoed between the trees, and Dora and Boots turned and ran as fast as they could, their feet pounding against the dusty trail.
Dora and Boots hurried around the corner, breathing hard and glancing behind them again and again. Their hearts thumped with fear, and every fluttering curtain or moving branch made them jump. At last they spotted Geo Umizoomi, a clever and helpful friend, standing near a yard with toy blocks and bright stepping stones.
"Geo Umizoomi, something scary happened in the forest! A ghost came floating out of nowhere, and Boots and I got so frightened that we ran all the way here as fast as we could!"
"It had spooky eyes and a creepy moan, and it looked like it wanted to chase us, and I think my tail is still shaking because I have never been this scared!"
"Do not worry, Dora and Boots. If a ghost is causing trouble, then we will face it together, and I have an idea that might scare that ghost away instead."
Geo Umizoomi knelt beside the bench and picked up a set of funny, bold masks with big eyes, bright colors, and dramatic shapes. The masks looked silly and surprising at the same time, perfect for turning fear into courage. Dora and Boots leaned closer, their frightened faces slowly changing into curious smiles.
"If that ghost wants to scare everyone, then maybe it has never seen anything scarier than us in these masks. We will stand together, act brave, and give it such a surprise that it will run away instead of making you run."
"That is a great idea, Geo Umizoomi! If we stay together and be brave, then maybe we can stop being afraid and make the ghost afraid of us!"
"I still feel nervous, but if we all wear masks together, then I can do it. I want to help scare that ghost away and make the forest feel safe again!"
Wearing their masks, Dora, Boots, and Geo Umizoomi walked back toward the place where the ghost had appeared. Their steps were careful, but now they moved with a shared courage that made them stronger. In the distance, the ghost floated out once more, its white form glowing in the moonlight as it gave another spooky cry.
"We are back, and this time we are not running away! We came together, and we are ready to show you that you cannot scare us anymore!"
"Stand tall, everyone. On the count of three, we step forward together and let the ghost see our masks all at once."
The three friends took a deep breath, stepped into the moonlight, and faced the ghost shoulder to shoulder.
Geo Umizoomi counted softly, and then all three jumped forward at once, waving their arms and making their masks loom large in the ghost’s view. The ghost stopped in midair, stared at them, and began to shake as if it had never expected anyone to be braver than it was. Its eerie moan turned into a frightened yelp.
"Boo to you, ghost! We are not scared anymore, and now you are the one who looks like you want to run away as fast as you can!"
"That is right, ghost. You tried to frighten my friends, but now you can see that teamwork and courage are stronger than spooky surprises in the dark!"
The ghost screamed, spun around, and ran for his life through the trees, wailing all the way until the sound disappeared into the night. Dora clapped her hands and jumped with joy.
"Yay! We did it! The ghost got scared and ran away, and I am so happy that we were brave and worked together to solve the problem!"
After thanking Geo Umizoomi for helping, Dora and Boots went to the door, where Dora’s mom, gentle and caring, welcomed them inside. The house smelled warm and cozy, and the bright kitchen lights made everything feel safe again.
"Mom, Boots and I saw a ghost in the forest, and we got so scared that we ran to Geo Umizoomi for help. Then Geo helped us wear masks, and when we went back together, the ghost got scared and ran away screaming!"
"I am so proud of you, Dora. You were frightened, but you asked for help, stayed brave, and solved the problem with your friends, and that is something truly wonderful."
Boots smiled, Dora beamed, and the peaceful night outside no longer seemed scary at all.
