Dora and Boots were walking home together, listening to the rustling leaves and the chirping of birds settling down for the night. The path had seemed cheerful a moment ago, but now everything looked darker, quieter, and a little strange. "Dora, this path feels extra spooky today, and I keep thinking I hear something floating behind us in the trees,"
Suddenly, a ghost floated out from behind an old tree stump and gave a long, eerie moan that echoed through the woods. Dora gasped and grabbed Boots’ hand, while Boots trembled from head to toe. "Boots, it’s a ghost, and we need to run right now because that was the scariest thing I have ever seen on this path,"
Dora and Boots ran for their lives, their feet pounding fast against the path while the ghost’s spooky cry faded behind them. They did not stop until they reached a bright, open street where the lights from nearby houses made everything feel safer. "Dora, my heart is beating so fast, and I really hope that ghost did not follow us all the way here because I do not want to see it again,"
There they found Geo Umizoomi, who noticed right away that both of them looked frightened and out of breath. Geo Umizoomi listened carefully as Dora and Boots explained what had happened in the woods. "Do not worry, Dora and Boots, if a ghost is scaring you, then I will help you come up with a brave and clever plan to scare it away,"
Geo Umizoomi smiled and handed Dora and Boots some funny but spooky masks, and then Geo Umizoomi put on one too. The masks had big eyes, wild shapes, and silly faces that looked strange in the moonlight. "If we stay together and act brave, then maybe the ghost will get scared of us instead, and we can send it floating far away,"
Dora, Boots, and Geo Umizoomi stood shoulder to shoulder and marched toward the ghost with their masks on. When the ghost turned and saw three strange faces coming through the mist, it let out a startled squeak instead of a moan. "Look, Dora, the ghost is the one getting scared now, so let us keep going because our masks are working better than I ever imagined,"
The ghost screamed, turned around, and ran for his life as fast as a floating ghost could go, disappearing deep into the night. Geo Umizoomi laughed, and Dora clapped her hands with joy. "Yay, we did it, we were brave together, and now that ghost will not scare us anymore,"
When Dora got home, she hurried to tell Mom everything that had happened, from seeing the ghost to finding Geo Umizoomi and wearing the masks. Mom listened with wide eyes and then smiled proudly at how brave Dora and Boots had been. "I am so proud of you for facing your fear, asking for help, and turning a scary moment into a brave adventure,"
