The Fresh Beat Band had just finished playing a lively song at a Halloween party when the wind suddenly turned cold. From behind a row of carved pumpkins, a pale ghost floated up with a long moan, its sheet-like form rippling in the moonlight. "A ghost! Run, run, run! We have to get out of here right now because that ghost is really scaring us!"
The Fresh Beat Band ran for their lives, hurrying past fences, candy bowls, and glowing jack-o'-lanterns until they found Geo Umizoomi. Geo Umizoomi stood beneath a bright porch light, calm and thoughtful, with clever eyes that noticed every detail. "A ghost chased us from the party, and it was so spooky that we didn’t know what to do, so we came to you for help!"
Geo Umizoomi listened carefully, then smiled as a smart plan formed. "If that ghost likes scaring people, then maybe the best way to stop it is to scare it back, and we can do that by dressing up like ghosts and moving together in the dark." The Fresh Beat Band stopped trembling and began to grin as they imagined turning fear into a game of bravery.
The Fresh Beat Band remembered how Mr. Owl and Bubble Puppy had once dressed up like ghosts and scared the Bubble Guppies and Franklin the Turtle and Friends at Halloween parties. The memory was not mean or cruel, just surprising and funny, the kind of spooky trick that ended with smiles instead of tears. "That’s it! If Mr. Owl and Bubble Puppy could do a spooky ghost trick at Halloween, then we can do one too and maybe this ghost will run away!"
The Fresh Beat Band and Geo Umizoomi returned to the party dressed like ghosts, swaying their arms and making eerie sounds as they approached the real ghost. The ghost floated near the stage, ready to scare everyone again, but then it saw several ghostly figures coming toward it from different directions. "Whooooooo goes there? We are the ghosts of Halloween fun, and we are not afraid of spooky surprises tonight!"
The ghost gasped and shook from top to bottom when it realized that the ones coming toward it looked even spookier than it did. "Look, everybody, the ghost is scared of ghosts, and now it’s the one who wants to run away!" With a frightened yelp, the ghost spun around and ran for his life every time The Fresh Beat Band and Geo Umizoomi floated closer.
When the ghost disappeared into the night, The Fresh Beat Band threw off their sheets and cheered. "Yay! We did it! We were scared at first, but then we worked together, made a smart plan, and scared the ghost away!" Geo Umizoomi smiled proudly, happy that courage and teamwork had saved the Halloween party.
The Fresh Beat Band told their moms everything that had happened, from the first scary sight of the ghost to the clever plan with Geo Umizoomi. Their moms listened with wide eyes, then laughed with relief and pride at the brave and funny ending. "We got scared, then we got help from Geo Umizoomi, and then we became ghosts ourselves and scared the ghost away, and it ran for its life!"
