"Okay, everyone! Let's split up and see who can find the best hiding spot," calls Steve Burns, his voice full of excitement.
"I'll hide behind the big oak tree!" yips Sprinkles the puppy dog, wagging her tail enthusiastically.
"Did you see that? There's something floating over there!" barks Blue the dog, his ears perked and fur standing on end.
"Is it... a ghost?" whispers Steve Burns, clutching the flashlight tighter as everyone huddles together.
Blue the dog[/@ch_1] and Sprinkles the puppy dog lead the way, tails tucked between their legs. Porch lights flicker on, illuminating worried faces as mothers step outside, alerted by the commotion.]
"Mom! There's a ghost in the backyard!" yelps Sprinkles the puppy dog, scrambling to her mother's side.
"We all saw it! It was floating and glowing!" adds Steve Burns, breathless and a little shaky.
Mrs. Burns, Steve's mom, smiles gently, "It's okay, everyone. Sometimes things look scary at night, but let's see what really happened."
Blue's Mom nods, "We'll go outside together and check, just to make sure it's safe."
"Wait... that's not a ghost! It's just a sheet!" laughs Steve Burns, relief flooding his face.
"We must've scared ourselves for nothing," woofs Blue the dog, his tail wagging once more.
"Next time, let's play hide-and-seek in the daylight!" giggles Sprinkles the puppy dog, snuggling beside her friends.
"Deal! And maybe we can help with the laundry, too," adds Steve Burns, with a wink to the moms.
