Little Bill sat up in bed, clutching his blanket tightly around his shoulders. The silence of the night was broken by a soft, eerie sound—like the whisper of footsteps gliding across the floor. A chill ran down his spine as he stared wide-eyed at the closet door, which creaked open slowly, revealing a shimmering, ghostly figure.
"W-who's there?" His voice trembled as he pressed himself deeper into his pillows. The ghostly shape floated closer, its outline glowing with a bluish light, and with a sudden wail, it swooped toward him. Little Bill let out a terrified scream, leaped from his bed, and dashed out of the room as fast as his feet could carry him.
Little Bill burst into the living room, heart pounding, searching for anyone who could help. He grabbed his walkie-talkie, hands shaking, and called for his friends. Geo Umizoomi, the clever blue-suited problem solver, answered almost instantly, his voice calm and reassuring through the static.
"Geo! I saw a ghost in my room! It was glowing and floating and it almost got me!"
"Don’t worry, Little Bill. We’ll figure this out together. Stay where you are—we’re on our way!"
Geo Umizoomi[/@ch_2] arrives with his bright, gadget-filled backpack. The air is crisp, and the neighborhood is quiet except for the soft chirping of crickets.]
Geo Umizoomi hurried up the porch steps and greeted Little Bill, who clung to his blanket, eyes wide with fear. The two crept quietly back to the bedroom, their flashlights casting circles of gold on the floor. The door stood ajar, and faint blue light still shimmered from inside.
"Let’s look for clues. Ghosts aren’t usually as scary as they seem,"
"But it was real, Geo! It had glowing eyes and everything!"
Geo Umizoomi examined the glowing figure, leaning closer to investigate the source of the strange light. He reached up and tugged at the sheet, revealing a flashlight and a stack of glow sticks tangled together. Underneath the sheet, April, Little Bill’s mischievous older cousin, popped out, giggling.
"Gotcha! I wanted to play a prank on you, Little Bill!"
"April! That was you all along? I was so scared!"
Geo Umizoomi smiled and patted Little Bill on the shoulder. Little Bill laughed nervously, wiping away the last of his tears as April apologized sincerely.
"Sometimes things aren’t as scary as they seem, especially with friends to help figure them out,"
"Thanks for helping me, Geo. And April… next time, can we just play board games?"
"You got it, Little Bill!"
The scare of the ghost was now just a funny memory, and Little Bill felt braver with his friends beside him. As they finished their cookies, they made a promise to always help each other, no matter how spooky things seemed. The clock chimed midnight, and the only thing left to haunt the house was the sound of happy giggles.
