Little Bill[/@ch_1] and Little Bill clutch each other’s hands, eyes wide as they pass the old, abandoned house perched atop the hill.]
"Did you see that, over there by the window?"
"I did! I think... I think it was a ghost!"
A flicker of pale light dances behind the cracked glass, and a shadowy figure seems to drift across the room. The boys freeze, hearts pounding.
"Run! Don’t look back—just keep going!"
"We have to tell someone, right now!"
Their voices tremble as they sprint toward the playground, the only place where they feel safe.
Geo Umizoomi[/@ch_3] stands by the slide, his bright outfit cheerful and reassuring in the night. The two Little Bills stumble toward him, gasping for air, their faces pale with fright.]
"Geo Umizoomi! We saw a ghost! It was in the old house—right by the window!"
Geo Umizoomi listens closely, his eyes wide with concern but his tone calm and steady.
"A ghost, you say? Let’s not panic. Let’s go together and see what’s really going on."
"Are you sure it’s safe, Geo?"
"Don’t worry—I’ll be right beside you. Let’s look for clues."
Inside, the house is quiet except for the faint sound of footsteps above. The group edges forward, peering into the darkness.
Mr. Jenkins[/@ch_4], the friendly neighbor, holding a flashlight and wearing a white sheet as a makeshift costume. He removes the sheet and smiles sheepishly.]
"Oh, dear! I’m so sorry—did I scare you? I was just getting ready for the neighborhood’s Halloween surprise!"
"You’re not a ghost after all!"
"Mystery solved! It was just Mr. Jenkins all along."
"Next time, maybe we’ll ask before running for our lives!"
"And next time, I’ll bring cookies for everyone. No more ghostly surprises, okay?"
The friends share a relieved hug, grateful for each other—and for a night that ended with more giggles than ghosts.
