Lila stood at the edge of the lake, her bare feet in the cool grass, gazing up at the night sky. The world around her was hushed, save for the gentle lapping of water against the shore. She lifted her hand and waved, her voice soft but clear in the quiet darkness. "Hello, Moon!"
Lila blinked as a gentle whisper floated down from above. "Hello, Lila… I feel lonely tonight." Her eyes widened in wonder, and she clutched her hands together, hardly believing what she’d heard. The moon’s voice sounded sad, and the stars twinkled distantly, as if listening in.
Lila tilted her head and looked thoughtfully at the glowing orb in the sky. "Lonely? But the stars are with you!" The moon’s glow softened, and its light shimmered faintly. "They are far away. I wish I had a friend… close to me."
A small idea blossomed in Lila’s heart, and she hurried into her cozy house, where the lamp’s golden glow danced on the walls. She found a tiny mirror, polished and bright, and raced back to the lake. Holding the mirror high, she caught the moon’s silver light, hoping her plan would work.
Suddenly, as the moonlight touched the glass, a spark of magic shimmered in the air. In Lila’s hands, a tiny moon appeared, delicate and bright, shining like a precious gem. The moon in the sky laughed, its voice ringing with happiness. "Now I have a little friend!"
From then on, Lila brought the little mirror to the lake every evening. The moon and the little moon twirled together, casting playful shadows and gentle light. Children far away peered out their windows and smiled, feeling the warmth of friendship in the night. The darkness felt less lonely, and the world seemed to glow with kindness.
