Bo, the bus driver, is a cheerful man with a wide-brimmed hat and a twinkle in his eye. As Malik, a curious Black boy with an infectious laugh, and Eli, a thoughtful White boy with a mop of blond hair, scramble onto the bus, Bo greets them warmly.
"Ready for a trip around the world, boys?"
"Where are we going first, Bo?"
"That's up to the magic of curiosity. Buckle up!" With a jolly chuckle, Bo pulls a lever, and the bus trembles, rising above the rooftops.
Eli presses his face to the window, eyes wide with astonishment. Malik grins, pointing out landmarks as they soar.
"Are we really flying? This is awesome!"
"Look, you can see the whole city!"
"Hold tight, our first stop is Kenya!" Bo announces, flipping a glowing switch on the dashboard.
Amina, a local girl with bright eyes and a quick smile, waves. She invites Malik and Eli to join her friends in the game.
"Welcome to Kenya! Want to play with us?"
"Sure! Teach us how you play here," Eli replies, eager to learn.
They kick the ball across the grass, laughing at missed goals, and afterward, Amina shares a taste of mandazi, a sweet local pastry.
Yuto, a boy in a crisp uniform, bows politely and welcomes the travelers. He shows them how to fold origami cranes and introduces them to mochi ice cream.
"In Japan, we make paper cranes for good luck. Would you like to try?"
"I love these colors! Can you teach me the steps?" Malik asks, fascinated.
Together, they fold paper, share stories, and giggle when their cranes wobble in the breeze.
Lucas, an exuberant boy with curly hair, hands Malik and Eli bright masks. The boys join the parade, learning samba steps and sampling brigadeiros from a friendly vendor.
"Carnival is all about joy! Dance with us!"
"This is amazing! I wish every day was a festival," Eli laughs, spinning through confetti.
"Let’s take this music home with us," Malik shouts above the drums.
Bo smiles at his passengers in the mirror, proud of the friendships blooming on his magical bus.
"What did you learn today, boys?"
"That the world is full of friends we haven’t met yet," Malik replies, grinning at Eli.
"And that sharing stories and smiles makes every place feel like home,"
The bus gently lands, its headlights glowing warmly, ready for another adventure tomorrow.
