Milo the Mouse, his whiskers twitching with excitement, peeks out cautiously. The barn is quiet, the only movement coming from a stray shaft of sunlight dancing over a half-empty sack of grain. Hunger grumbles in Milo's belly as he surveys the bounty before him.
Milo spots the crate and his eyes widen with desire. While the other mice snatch only what they can carry, he schemes to take more. "Why settle for a little when I can have it all?" he whispers to himself, glancing around to make sure no one is watching.
With greedy paws, Milo fills his cheeks until they bulge, then hoards even more, stuffing his nest till it overflows. Other mice look on, some with envy, others with concern, as crumbs trail behind him. Sage the Old Mouse, wise and gray, approaches with a gentle warning.
"Take care, Milo. Too much greed can lead to trouble. There’s enough for everyone if we share," Sage says, her tone kind yet firm. Milo barely listens, his focus fixed on his growing stash.
A sudden creak startles him—a large, curious rat has followed the scent of excess to Milo's nest. The rat’s shadow looms as it sniffs and claims the mountain of food, leaving Milo with nothing but a few crumbs. "All my hard work, gone!" he squeaks, regret filling his voice.
"I was wrong to be so greedy. Can I help and share, too?" he asks quietly. Sage smiles, offering a seed. Together, the mice learn that sharing brings more comfort and friendship than any pile of food could ever provide.
