Once upon a time, there was an animator who snapped at everything. Adonis, the king of the water, ruled this pond yet was never happy and not popular. He snapped night and day, grimacing at the flowers and growling at the buzzing bumblebees, his massive jaws clacking irritably.
Adonis frowned all the time, wanting things his way, his scales glistening with perpetual grumpiness as he sank to the bottom of his home, searching for prey.
The starfish and the octopus got scared and fled in terror from Adonis's approach. Adonis, with his wrinkled, armored back, never lost his desire to attack, his eyes narrowing hungrily in the dim light.
He prowled the depths, his tail swishing powerfully, disturbing the silt into cloudy veils that hid his menacing form.
The cross alligator crawled up on the grass, snapping at anyone that came near with evil spit flying from his jaws, wanting them not to pass. Adonis positioned himself like a sentinel, his body coiled and ready.
He snapped at the gardener tending nearby blooms, scattering petals in chaos.
"Get away from my pond, you meddlesome fool! These flowers are mine to ruin if I please, and no gardener will change that!" Adonis bellowed, his voice a deep rumble echoing across the bank.
The gardener stumbled back in fright, dropping his tools as Adonis chomped the air viciously.
Then Adonis sat on the bank, grumbling for hours, his tail thumping the earth rhythmically.
Adonis looked at the sky, a sight all alligators wanted, yet it only fueled his endless discontent. "Why must everything be so perfect up there while I'm stuck down here, snapping at shadows and chasing away friends? If only the world bent to my will, but no, it mocks me with its beauty!"
His growls softened to mutters as the night deepened, the pond growing still.
Deep down, a flicker of loneliness stirred in the grumpy king.
Adonis sighed, his snaps quieting as he pondered his solitary reign. "Perhaps snapping at everything has driven away more than prey—maybe it's time to try growling a little less and listening more to the pond's whispers."
The stars twinkled approval, hinting at change for the once-unhappy king.
And so, under the watchful sky, Adonis began to dream of a happier tomorrow.
