Vinny, a young vampire with pale skin and wide, nervous eyes, peered out from behind the heavy velvet curtains of his room. The thought of trick-or-treating made his stomach churn, but his friends eagerly awaited him outside. "What if they don't like my costume?" he whispered to himself, feeling the weight of his fears.
Lila, a spirited witch with a gleaming broomstick, called up to the window, "Vinny, come on! It'll be fun!" Max, dressed as a fearless pirate, added, "Don't worry, Vinny, we've got your back!" Their voices were filled with excitement, and though his heart raced, Vinny felt a flicker of courage.
Vinny took a deep breath, joining his friends with a tentative smile. "Okay, let's do this," he said, trying to sound braver than he felt. Lila and Max flanked him, offering reassuring grins as they approached the first house.
Max nudged Vinny forward. "Go on, Vinny, say it!" Vinny hesitated, then took a deep breath. "Trick or treat!" he exclaimed, his voice a mix of excitement and relief. The homeowner chuckled, dropping a handful of candy into each of their bags.
Vinny felt his confidence grow with each "trick or treat." "I can't believe I was scared of this," he admitted, his cheeks flushed with the thrill of the night. Lila grinned, "We knew you had it in you!" Max added, "You're braver than you think, Vinny."
Vinny paused at his doorstep, turning to his friends with gratitude. "Thanks, guys. I couldn't have done it without you," he said earnestly. Lila and Max exchanged a knowing look, content in the knowledge that they'd helped their friend find his courage. As they waved goodnight, Vinny felt certain that this Halloween would be the first of many adventures together.
