Arjun, a slim boy with curious eyes and a sly grin, tiptoed through the dew-kissed underbrush. He paused at the edge of a clearing, his notebook clutched tight, scribbling notes about the elephants he so adored. Peacocks called from the treetops, and the world felt untouched, peaceful—until a low, thunderous sound broke the spell.
Arjun spotted the herd, their panic rising like a storm. He saw the youngest calf stumble near the metal rails, the matriarch trumpeting orders no one could hear above the growing chaos. The ground shook with their desperate charge, and the metallic gleam of the train’s nose burst through the trees, heading straight for disaster.
Arjun tore down the embankment, waving his arms and shouting. "Stop! Please stop! The elephants—look out!" His voice was swallowed by the roar of the train. He yanked his red scarf free, flinging it above his head, desperate for the conductor to see.
Arjun held his ground, heart pounding, eyes locked on the oncoming train. The elephants paused at the edge of the rails, uncertain, watching the boy’s bravery. "Don’t cross! Stay back!" he cried, his voice hoarse with fear and hope.
A hush fell over the jungle. The train finally lurched to a halt, just inches before the herd. The matriarch’s trunk reached out, touching the ground where Arjun had stood, as if to honor the small, brave human who had saved them all.
Arjun’s story spread through the valley, whispered in reverence and awe. The elephants, once wild and wary, lingered near the tracks, their trumpets echoing a song of gratitude. Flowers and scarves marked the spot, a reminder of courage that saved hundreds—and changed the hearts of all who witnessed it.
