Father peeked into the kitchen, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Where did, where did, oh, where’d she go?" he sang, opening cupboard doors and peering behind the fridge.
Daughter giggled softly from her hiding spot behind the pantry. "Is she playing in the kitchen? (No, I’m not!)" Father called out, pretending not to notice her tiny feet peeking out. His voice was filled with playful curiosity as he moved on to the next room.
Father wandered into the living room, his eyes scanning the room. "Or is she resting on a chair? (No, no, no!)" he asked, gently lifting the cushions to reveal no one, just a few scattered toys.
He then tiptoed over to the dining room, spotting a trail of crumbs leading to the table. "Is she eating at the table? (Yum, yum, yum!)" he mused. Daughter popped up with a giggle, a cookie in hand. But with a burst of laughter, she dashed away, leaving Father chuckling behind her.
Father followed her giggles into the garden, filled with blooming flowers and the sound of birds. "Or is she running over there? (Yes, I am!)" he shouted joyfully, watching as Daughter darted behind a tree, her laughter echoing through the garden.
Back inside, the search continued in the bathroom, where the shower curtain swayed mysteriously. "Is she singing in the shower? (No, I’m not!)" he wondered aloud, pulling the curtain aside to find only bubbles and an empty tub.
Father moved to the bedroom, spotting a small shoe under the bed. "Or is she putting on a shoe? (No! No! No!)" he called, crouching down to find nothing but a pile of socks.
Finally, Father entered the playroom, where crayons and paper lay scattered. "Is she drawing with a marker? (Draw, draw, draw!)" he asked, finding Daughter deep in thought, a colourful masterpiece before her.
"Or is she thinking what to do? (Yes, I am!)" Father exclaimed, sitting beside her. Together, they laughed and admired her artwork, their playful adventure coming to a delightful end as they planned their next hide-and-seek escapade.
