Jenna the jellyfish floated gracefully among the waving sea grass, her translucent bell shimmering faintly in the sunlight.
She watched her friends gather nearby, their laughter bubbling through the water as they showed off their latest treasures.
"I wonder what it would feel like to have something shiny and new," she mused, a pang of longing stirring inside her.
Shelby the sea snail, with her spiral of polished shell, twirled in the water. Finn the fish darted by, his silvery fins a blur.
Luna the lanternfish beamed with every pulse of her glowing light.
"Look at my shell, Jenna! Isn't it the shiniest in the cove?"
Jenna felt her tentacles droop and couldn't help but compare herself to her sparkling friends.
Jenna sighed, swirling slowly in the water, her thoughts tangled with envy.
"Why don't I have a shiny shell or bright lights? What makes me special at all?"
She remembered all the times she wished for what her friends had, feeling small and invisible in the vast blue sea.
Maris the wise old turtle glided up beside Jenna, his shell marked by the years.
"Why the sad face, young jelly?"
"Everyone else has something special. I just feel... plain," Jenna admitted, her voice barely a whisper.
"You may not see it, but you light up the ocean in your own way," Maris replied kindly.
Jenna recalled how she guided lost minnows with her gentle glow and comforted others when storms raged overhead.
"Maybe I am special... just in a different way," she thought, feeling a warm current of gratitude wash over her.
For the first time, she truly admired the soft beauty of her own flowing form and the comfort she brought to the deep.
Jenna joined her friends, her heart light as she swirled and spun.
"Jenna, you're the best at making us feel safe and happy!" Finn cheered, circling her in delight.
"Thank you, Finn. I wouldn't trade being me for anything," she replied, her glow brightening with contentment as all her friends celebrated the unique gifts each of them brought to the sea.
