Ms. Lopez, the kindergarten teacher, stands at the front of the room holding a tablet, her smile wide and inviting. Manuel, a bright-eyed boy in a striped green shirt, sits with his classmates, his feet barely touching the floor. The anticipation is palpable as Ms. Lopez announces the start of the game.
"Alright, everyone! I want you all to join Kahoot on your tablets. There will be a special prize for the person who finishes in first place," she calls out, her voice brimming with playful mystery.
Questions pop up rapid-fire, with images of animals, numbers, and shapes. Manuel's brow furrows in concentration, his tongue poking out as he races to answer. Around him, classmates call out encouragements and gasp at the leaderboard changes.
Sophia, Manuel's friend, leans over and whispers, "You're so fast, Manuel! I can't keep up!"
Manuel[/@ch_2]'s name flashes at the top in bold gold letters. Afternoon sunlight glints off the scattered crayons and storybooks left on the tables.]
All the students clap, some cheering and others pouting good-naturedly. Ms. Lopez grins and steps forward, clapping her hands.
"Congratulations, Manuel! You’re our Kahoot champion today. When the bell rings, please wait for me after everyone else leaves. I have your special prize ready," she announces, winking mischievously.
Manuel[/@ch_2] stands uncertainly by his desk, hands folded, as Ms. Lopez closes the door with a gentle click.]
Manuel's heart pounds with anticipation—would it be a toy, a sticker, or maybe a sweet treat? Ms. Lopez walks over, her eyes twinkling with a secret.
"Ms. Lopez, what’s my prize? Is it something special?"
Ms. Lopez[/@ch_1]'s stomach. She places a hand over her belly, feigning embarrassment, and then bursts into gentle laughter.]
"Well, Manuel, your prize is... listening to my hungry stomach! I skipped lunch today, and it’s making quite a fuss," she says, her tone both playful and apologetic. Manuel giggles, first in confusion and then with delight at the silliness of the situation. The two share a moment of laughter, the oddness of the prize making it memorable.
Ms. Lopez ruffles Manuel's hair, her eyes warm. "Thank you for being such a good sport, Manuel. Next time, I’ll make sure your prize is a bit more... delicious," she promises. Manuel simply grins, the memory of the strangest prize ever won now his to share.
