Milo, a fluffy gray kitten with bright green eyes and a little pink nose, sits by the fireplace, his tiny paws tucked under him. The room glows with the warmth of crackling logs, but something is missing—his beloved red mittens. He searches beneath cushions and inside his toy basket, shaking his head in confusion.
"Where could my red mittens be? I can't find them anywhere,"
Milo scampers from room to room, checking beneath the kitchen table and behind stacks of neatly folded blankets. The smell of freshly baked bread wafts from the oven, but the mittens remain missing. With a determined flick of his tail, he slips out the door into the chilly morning, leaving tiny paw prints in the snow.
Lila, a small brown rabbit with velvety ears, hops from behind a snow-covered bush, her nose twitching.
"What are you looking for, Milo?"
"My red mittens! I lost them and can't find them anywhere in the house,"
"Let's look together. Maybe they're somewhere in the forest!"
Finn, a cheerful squirrel with a bushy tail, scampers down from his tree, and Pip, a tiny bluebird, flutters overhead.
"Did you check the hollow log? I saw something red peeking out yesterday!"
"Let’s see! Maybe my mittens got lost there while I played,"
Together, the friends spread out, lifting snowy branches, peeking under leaves, and poking their noses into cozy hiding spots.
Lila hops up and nudges the log gently. Milo squeezes inside, his heart pounding with hope. There, nestled among dried leaves and a stray feather, are his red mittens—just where he left them during yesterday’s game of hide-and-seek.
"I found them! Thank you, everyone! My mittens were here all along,"
"We’re so glad you didn’t give up, Milo,"
Milo beams, his red mittens bright against the white snow. The group retraces their steps back to the cottage, sharing stories and giggles along the way. Inside, mugs of warm milk and honey await them, and Milo curls up by the fire, grateful for his friends and their kindness.
"Next time I lose something, I know I can count on you all,"
"That’s what friends are for!"
