Finn tossed and turned beneath his tangled blankets, his brow furrowed as thoughts raced like startled minnows. "What if I fail the test? What if my laugh sounds weird?" he wondered, pulling the covers up to his chin. Through the open window, a silvery hum wound its way into the room—a song so gentle it seemed to wrap around his heart.
"Who could be playing such a song this late?" he whispered, curiosity beginning to outweigh his worries.
Finn crept outside, bare feet cool on the grass, drawn by the music’s call. At the water’s edge, a girl shimmered into view—Luna, the lake’s guardian, her hair swirling with flecks of starlight and midnight blue.
"I’ve been waiting for you," she said, her voice as soft as the night air. She knelt and handed Finn a smooth pebble. "Let’s make music—skip pebble notes. Each ripple is a song only your heart can play."
Finn hesitated, then smiled, tossing a pebble that sent silvery ripples singing across the lake.
Finn stared up, wide-eyed. "Why do they look so grumpy?"
"They’ve eaten too many storm clouds tonight," Luna explained, laughter twinkling in her eyes. Finn giggled, the sound bubbling up despite his worries. As he laughed, the sheep’s wool softened, turning fluffy and white, and their rumbling gave way to a chorus of giggle-grumbles.
*Tap the sheep to hear them giggle-grumble!*
Finn’s worries crept back in, curling tight in his stomach. "What if I’m not brave enough for tomorrow?"
Luna beckoned him closer, draping the shimmering, star-woven blanket around his shoulders. "Bravery isn’t loud, Finn. It’s just showing up, even when you’re afraid. Wrap yourself in the stars and remember you are not alone."
Finn snuggled into the blanket, feeling warm and safe beneath the universe’s gentle light.
Luna pressed the bottle into Finn’s hand, her galaxy-dust hair glowing in the sunrise. "Shake this when your mind feels stormy. The lake’s melody will help your worries float away."
Finn hugged her tightly, gratitude sparkling in his eyes. He turned, carrying the bottled ripple and the memory of the magical night as he made his way home through the dew-bright grass.
Finn curled up, clutching the tiny bottle to his chest, his mind finally at peace. The memory of giggling clouds, shimmering ripples, and Luna’s star-blanket wrapped around him like a promise. As he drifted into deep, dreamless sleep, the hum of the lake echoed softly in his heart.
And so, dear dreamer, remember: Even the loudest worries can learn to float.
