The Lion rests peacefully, his great mane fanned out like a golden crown.
Nearby, tiny insects buzz and a curious breeze rustles the long grass.
"What a perfect day for a nap," dreams The Lion.
The Mouse tiptoes closer, wide-eyed and cautious.
Suddenly, she stumbles and scampers right over The Lion's big, soft nose!
"Oh no! What have I done?" squeaks The Mouse.
The Lion[/@ch_1]'s eyes snap open. Light flickers in his golden eyes, and his huge paw traps the trembling mouse. Sunlight glints on his sharp claws, and the air feels tense.]
The Lion lifts his heavy paw, glaring at the tiny intruder.
"Who dares wake me from my nap?"
The Mouse shivers, her heart thumping like a tiny drum.
The Mouse[/@ch_2] looks up at the mighty lion. Dappled shade dances across her face as she pleads for her life. Nearby flowers nod gently in the breeze.]
"Spare me, please! Let me go, and someday I’ll help you," begs The Mouse.
The Lion laughs, his deep voice rumbling through the trees.
"How could a tiny mouse help a great lion like me?"
"Run along, little one," says The Lion.
The Mouse darts back into the grass, her heart full of hope.

The Mouse remembers the lion’s kindness and wishes she could help him someday.
The Lion pays no mind, strong and proud as ever.
The Lion[/@ch_1] steps into a hidden hunter’s net. Thick ropes spring up, trapping his legs and mane. The forest fills with the sound of his desperate roars.]
"Help! Let me out!" bellows The Lion.
Birds scatter and leaves tumble as his mighty struggles shake the ground.
The Mouse[/@ch_2] pauses, ears perked. She knows that roar—it’s her friend, the lion! Golden sunlight flickers through branches as she scurries toward the sound.]
"That must be the lion! He needs help," whispers The Mouse.
She darts through grass and under ferns, moving as fast as her tiny paws allow.
The Mouse[/@ch_2] finds The Lion tangled in rough, thick ropes. The net is tight, the lion’s fur ruffled and eyes worried. Dappled sunlight glimmers on the ropes and the mouse’s determined face.]
The Mouse races to the strongest rope and begins to gnaw with her sharp teeth.
"Hold still, I’ll help you!"
Bit by bit, the rope starts to fray and snap.
The Lion[/@ch_1] is finally free. Sunlight shines bright as the lion stretches and shakes out his mane.]
"You saved me, little mouse!" roars The Lion, his eyes warm with gratitude.
The Mouse smiles, whiskers twitching proudly.
The Lion[/@ch_1] and The Mouse sit side by side. Wildflowers bloom, and birds sing a cheerful song. They share a joyful laugh, their friendship shining brighter than ever.]
"You laughed when I said I’d help you, but even a mouse can help a lion," says The Mouse.
"You are braver than anyone I know," replies The Lion.
Big or small, a kind heart always makes a difference.
Kindness is never wasted, no matter how tiny the giver.
