Demi, a plump little chicken with soft white feathers and round, worried eyes, waddles behind the flock, trying to make herself small. Her feathers fluff up as she overhears some other chicks giggling nearby, and she lowers her head shyly. Ruby, her slightly older sister with radiant golden feathers and a confident stride, notices her sister lagging and hurries to her side.
"Penny, why are you always so quiet? You have the funniest stories and the brightest laugh," Ruby says, nudging her sister gently.
Demi sighs, her wings folded tightly. "But everyone makes fun of me for being chubby and silly. What if they laugh at me again?"
"Let them laugh! Your laughter is like sunshine, and your jokes make everyone happy. The only thing that matters is being yourself," Ruby replies, her eyes sparkling with warmth.
Demi watches from the sidelines, her heart pounding. She sees chickens showing off their feathers, singing, and even doing silly dances. Ruby gives her a reassuring look and whispers, "This is your moment, Penny. Show them your funny dance!"
Demi takes a deep breath, her feet trembling as she waddles onto the stage. The crowd grows quiet, waiting to see what she will do.
"This one’s for all the chickens who love to laugh!" Demi calls out, striking a silly pose.
Her round belly jiggles, her wings flap, and her beak opens wide in joyful laughter. The other chickens join in, clapping and cheering, swept up by her infectious happiness.
"See? You’re wonderful just the way you are, Penny," Ruby says, giving her a big, feathery hug.
"I guess it’s true," Demi replies, giggling. "Being myself is more fun than trying to hide."
The two sisters laugh together, their voices rising like music over the happy farm.
Demi feels a gentle confidence blooming in her heart. She leans against her sister, grateful for the encouragement that helped her shine.
"Thank you, Ruby. Tomorrow, I’ll tell my silliest story yet," she promises, and the sisters share a smile as the stars appear overhead, lighting up their dreams for all the days to come.
