Max[/@ch_1], in a baggy clown costume, sits slumped on a polka-dotted bean bag, his big red rubber nose wobbling as he sniffles.]
Max wipes away a tear with the oversized sleeve of his clown suit. His yellow tie with purple polka dots hangs limply around his neck, and he stares at the window, watching clouds drift by.
Loonette, his older sister, enters, her black curly hair in pigtails, purple hat tilted jauntily, her own red clown nose shining. She kneels by him, concern softening her painted smile.
"Max, silly goose, what's got your giggle turned upside-down this morning?"
"I'm just a sad little boy clown," Max mumbles, voice quivering. "I miss Mom and Dad so much. Marigold and Jasper are so far away, making other clowns happy, but I wish they were here with us in Clowntown."
Loonette pulls him into a gentle, squeaky hug, her purple-gloved hand patting his back.
"Do you think maybe all of my little clown friends from clowndergarten could come over and cheer me up? Even Tina, my best friend?" Max's eyes flicker with hope.
"Of course, Max! What better way to chase away the frowns than with a clown gathering?" Loonette grins, producing her big red phone with a flourish. "Let's call them all! We'll fill this room with more giggles than a barrel of rubber chickens."
Tina hugs Max, her own rubber nose squeaking loudly.
"We're here, Max! No more sad faces, okay? Today, we're all about silly walks and whoopee cushions!"
All the little clowns join hands, forming a circle around Max. The room fills with the sounds of laughter, joyful honks, and the jingle of bells.
Loonette leads a silly dance, twirling her hat and making all the little clowns giggle until their sides ache.
Max can't help but laugh, his tears forgotten. Surrounded by his friends and his sister, his heart feels lighter, the ache of missing his parents soothed by the love in the room.
"See, Max? Even when Marigold and Jasper are away, we're never alone. We've got each other, and that makes every clown heart happy," Loonette whispers, tucking a blanket around her little brother.
Max nestles against her, his favorite yellow tie now a badge of joy. As the stars twinkle over Clowntown, the little boy clown drifts off to sleep, surrounded by friendship and love, knowing his parents would be proud of his big, brave heart.
