Tommy kicked a pile of golden leaves, watching them flutter away like tiny birds. The park was alive with the colors of fall, and as he walked, he noticed something unusual. There, nestled under a bench, was a small, shivering puppy, its eyes wide and curious. "Hey there, little guy," he whispered, crouching down to get a better look.
Tommy reached out a hand, and the puppy sniffed it cautiously before giving it a tentative lick. "You must be lost," he said softly, feeling the gentle warmth of the creature. The puppy wagged its tail, a sign of trust forming between them. Tommy looked around, searching for any sign of an owner, but the park was emptying as the sun began to set.
"I guess you can come home with me," Tommy decided, feeling the puppy’s small heartbeat against his chest. As they walked home together, he imagined what his family would say. The thought brought a smile to his face, and he hoped they would understand.
Mrs. Johnson looked up as Tommy entered, her eyes widening at the sight of the puppy. "Where did you find him?" she asked, her voice a mix of surprise and concern. Tommy placed the puppy gently on the floor, explaining how he had found the little creature alone in the park. "We’ll see if anyone is looking for him, but for now, let’s make him feel at home," she decided, smiling.
Biscuit wagged his tail energetically, his small paws skittering across the hardwood floor. Tommy laughed, feeling a sense of joy and companionship he hadn’t expected. "Looks like we have a new friend," he said, watching as Biscuit sniffed around, clearly content in his new surroundings.
Tommy stroked Biscuit's soft fur, grateful for the unexpected friendship. His heart was full, knowing that sometimes the best things in life come when you least expect them. "Goodnight, Biscuit," he whispered, feeling the gentle rise and fall of the puppy’s breath as they both drifted into dreams of tomorrow's adventures.
