Leo, the littlest lion in his pride, sits with his tail curled around his paws, staring at his reflection trembling in the water.
"Why am I so small? Will I ever be brave like the others?"
He remembers watching the older lions chasing antelope in the golden grass, their roars echoing with strength he feels he lacks.
Leo tries to join, but the others tower above him, their paws swift and strong.
Nia, a playful lioness cub, notices him lingering.
"Come on, Leo! Don’t you want to play with us?"
"I do, but... I’m not strong enough. I don’t want to get trampled," Leo replies, his eyes downcast.
The others hesitate, unsure how to help.
Tawi, the wise tortoise, pauses beside Leo.
"Why such a long face, young lion?"
"I’m too small to be brave. I want to roar like the others, but my voice is soft,"
"Bravery isn’t always about size or sound. Sometimes, the smallest voices are heard the loudest when they speak from the heart," Tawi says, his eyes kind.
"Someone has to help!" Nia shouts, but the ledge is narrow, and none of the bigger cubs can squeeze through the rocks.
Leo feels his heart race. Remembering Tawi’s words, he steps forward, paws trembling but determined.
"It’s okay, I’m here. Follow me, step by step,"
With patience and courage, Leo leads the cub to safety. The pride erupts in cheers, the sound carrying across the savannah.
"You were the bravest of us all, Leo," Nia says, nuzzling him.
"See? Sometimes the biggest hearts come in the smallest packages," Tawi adds with a slow smile.
Leo beams, no longer worried about his size, knowing that courage comes in many forms.
