Ali, a curious five-year-old with wide brown eyes, glances longingly at the open door, itching to run outside and play.
Grandmother Amina, her gentle face framed by a white scarf, smiles patiently, her voice soft and wise as she begins a story.
"Ali, before you rush off, let me tell you a story about Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and how he listened to Allah and his elders,"
"Once, Prophet Ibrahim was tested many times. He listened carefully to the guidance of his father and later to what Allah commanded him, even when it was difficult. Because he listened with his heart, he was blessed and became a great prophet,"
Ali’s eyes widen, and he hugs his knees, absorbing every word.
"Grandma, why do I have to listen all the time? Sometimes I just want to play,"
"Listening is not just about hearing words, Ali," Grandmother Amina replies, her eyes twinkling. "It’s about understanding and caring for those who want the best for you. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) always respected his elders, and because of that, he grew wise and kind,"
"When we listen to our elders, we learn not just rules, but love and wisdom that protect us,"
Ali nods slowly, looking into his grandmother’s kind eyes.
"Does that mean if I listen, Allah will be happy with me?"
"Yes, my dear. Allah rewards those who respect and listen, for they are showing gratitude and trust,"
"Grandma, can I help you set the table before I play? I want to do what’s right,"
"Of course, Ali. That is the spirit of a good Muslim," Grandmother Amina says, her smile proud and bright.
"I like helping you, Grandma. I think listening is not so hard after all,"
"And with every good deed you do, Allah smiles upon you, my little one,"
Together, they finish their task, the morning now filled not just with sunlight, but with the gentle glow of understanding and love.
