Luna clutched her spellbook tightly, mismatched socks peeking from beneath her robes. Her heart fluttered with a mix of excitement and nerves as she stepped into the courtyard. Beside her, Bubbles, her faithful frog companion, croaked reassuringly from his tiny pouch.
"Today's the day, Bubbles. Time to make some new friends," she whispered, more to herself than to the frog.
Max, a boy with tousled hair and a skeptical expression, watched as Luna took a seat near the window. Sophie, with her bright eyes and eager smile, sat nearby, curious about the new student.
"So, you're the witch everyone's talking about?" Max asked, trying to sound casual.
"I guess so," Luna replied, a hint of uncertainty in her voice. Sophie leaned in, her excitement bubbling over.
"I think it's cool! Do you know any neat spells?"
Luna found herself sandwiched between Max and Sophie, her lunch tray piled with unfamiliar foods.
"I brought something special," Luna said, pulling out a pouch of magical snacks she had prepared. With a wave of her hand, the snacks sparkled and danced.
"Whoa, that's amazing!" Max exclaimed, reaching for a glowing biscuit.
"Can you teach us how to make them?" Sophie asked eagerly.
Luna, Max, and Sophie teamed up for a game of magical tag. Bubbles hopped alongside them, adding to the fun with his playful antics.
"You're it, Max!" Luna giggled, zipping away with a burst of magical speed.
"No fair, you've got magic!" Max laughed, trying to catch up. But his laughter was full of warmth, devoid of any previous skepticism.
She reflected on the day, a smile playing on her lips. Despite the initial nervousness, she had found her place among new friends.
"I guess being different isn't so bad after all, right, Bubbles?" she mused, her heart full. The little frog croaked in agreement, a contented companion.
As Luna made her way home, she felt a newfound sense of belonging. Tomorrow promised new adventures, new spells to try, and more laughter with Max and Sophie.
"Cloverwood is full of magic," she whispered to Bubbles, embracing the warmth of friendship as the stars guided her way.
