Eli, a bright-eyed little boy with an insatiable curiosity, stands on his tiptoes, peering over the counter where his mother, Maya, is busy arranging cookie dough on a baking tray. "Mom, do you think cookies could fly if we wanted them to?" he asks, his imagination already soaring.
"Well," Maya replies with a smile, dusting her hands on her apron, "In the world of dreams, anything is possible. Tell me, how would you make them fly?"
"I’d give them wings made of sugar and sprinkles," Eli declares, his hands animatedly shaping invisible wings in the air. "They’d zoom around delivering happiness to everyone!"
Maya chuckles softly, remembering her own childhood fantasies. "That's a wonderful idea, sweetheart. You know, when I was little, I believed my cookies could make wishes come true."
Eli listens intently, eyes wide. "Did your wishes come true, Mom?" he asks eagerly, leaning closer.
"Sometimes they did," Maya nods, her voice soft with reminiscence. "Like the time I wished for a friend, and the very next day, I met your Aunt Lily."
Eli helps Maya place the tray in the oven with a sense of accomplishment. "Maybe these cookies can make wishes too," Eli suggests, his voice filled with hope.
"Perhaps they can," Maya agrees, her eyes twinkling as she closes the oven door. "What’s your wish, my little dreamer?"
Eli ponders for a moment and then whispers, "I wish for everyone to be as happy as we are right now."
Maya smiles warmly, pulling Eli into a gentle hug. "That's a beautiful wish, Eli. And with a heart like yours, I'm sure it will come true."
Eli and Maya sit together at the table, savoring the warmth of the kitchen and the joy of shared dreams. "Can we bake flying cookies again tomorrow?" Eli asks, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.
"Absolutely," Maya replies, knowing that each day with her son is an adventure filled with endless possibilities.
