Sebastian sat wide-eyed, his tiny fingers playing with a red ribbon that had fallen from a present. The room was filled with the soft hum of Christmas carols playing in the background. Danica, his mother, was adjusting the nativity scene on the mantel, ensuring each figure was perfectly placed. Tim, his father, was busy hanging the last of the stockings.
"Mommy, why is the baby sleeping in the hay?" asked Sebastian, pointing at the baby Jesus figure.
"Because, darling, that's where he was born," Danica replied with a gentle smile. "It's a very special story about love and hope."
Sebastian lay in his crib, snuggled under a blanket, his eyes fluttering as he drifted into dreams. In his mind, he saw a soccer ball, bright and colorful, bouncing on the soft green grass of a sunlit field. He giggled in his sleep, little legs kicking excitedly.
Tim peeked into the room, smiling at the sight of his son peacefully dreaming. He whispered to Danica, "I hope he gets his wish this Christmas."
Danica raised her glass, "To family, love, and the joy this season brings," she toasted, her eyes gleaming with happiness.
Tim added, "And to the little dreams that make life magical."
Sebastian clapped his hands, not fully understanding the words but feeling the warmth and love surrounding him.
Sebastian was gently woken by his parents, who carried him to the tree. There, among the beautifully wrapped presents, lay a shiny new soccer ball, its surface gleaming under the lights.
"Ball!" Sebastian exclaimed, his eyes widening in delight as he reached out to touch it.
Tim chuckled, "Merry Christmas, buddy. It's all yours."
Sebastian was in his element, kicking the ball with glee, his laughter echoing through the house. Danica and Tim watched with joy, their hearts full of love.
"It's amazing how a simple ball can bring so much happiness," Danica said, leaning against Tim.
"That's the magic of Christmas," Tim replied, wrapping an arm around her.
Sebastian snuggled between his parents, clutching the soccer ball tightly. He yawned, his eyes heavy with sleep, yet filled with the wonder of the day's events.
"Thank you for making this special," Danica whispered to Tim.
"Every day with you and Sebastian is special," Tim replied, kissing her forehead as they all drifted into a peaceful slumber.
