At Meadow View Elementary, the playground was buzzing with happy kids enjoying their recess. Among them was Ella, a curious and polite seven-year-old who loved to learn new things. She watched as her friends played tag, the sun shining bright above. "Have you ever noticed how some words can change everything?" Ella wondered aloud to her friend Sam, a thoughtful boy who loved to read.
Sam tilted his head, curious. "What do you mean, Ella?" he asked, adjusting his glasses. "Well, like saying 'excuse me'. It’s just two little words, but they can make such a big difference!" Ella explained, her eyes shining with excitement. Lucy, a cheerful girl who loved to tell stories, added, "I think it’s like magic! People smile more when you use it!"
The bell rang, signaling the end of recess. Back in class, Ella decided to try out her idea. As Ms. Rivera, their friendly teacher, handed out art supplies, Ella politely said, "Excuse me, Ms. Rivera, may I have an extra sheet of paper?" Ms. Rivera smiled back, "Of course, Ella. Thank you for asking so nicely!" The simple exchange made Ella feel really proud.
After class, Lucy and Sam found Ella in the hallway. "Did you see how Ms. Rivera smiled? It’s like your 'excuse me' really worked like magic!" Sam said, adjusting his backpack. Ella nodded, "I think it makes people feel important, and that’s why they smile back!"
Determined to share her discovery, Ella decided to tell more friends about the magic of saying "excuse me." At lunch, she gathered her classmates and shared her idea. Lucy added, "It’s like a special spell that makes everyone feel happy!" Soon, everyone at the table wash practicing their own "excuse me" spells, giggling as they imagined themselves as wizards of kindness.
As the school day ended, Ella felt a sense of joy. Sam walked beside her, his book tucked under his arm. "I think we’ve started something really great!" he said with a smile. Ella nodded and said, "Something magical!" She knew that even the smallest words could make a big difference.
