Mia sat on the floor of her cozy bedroom, staring at the colorful pictures in her favorite storybook. Her brows furrowed in concentration as she tried to decipher the words that danced on the pages. Next to her, Biscuit, her loyal golden retriever, lay sprawled out comfortably, his big brown eyes watching her intently.
"Why are these words so tricky, Biscuit?" Mia sighed, gently petting Biscuit's soft fur. Biscuit wagged his fluffy tail in response, as if encouraging her to keep trying.
Deciding she needed a change of scenery, Mia grabbed her book and headed outside, with Biscuit bounding beside her. They made their way to the old oak tree at the edge of their garden, where the sun cast playful shadows on the grass.
"Let's try reading here, under our special tree," Mia suggested, settling down against the sturdy trunk. Biscuit lay next to her, his head resting on her lap.
As Mia began to read aloud, Biscuit nudged her arm gently with his nose whenever she stumbled over a word. Mia giggled, "You think you can teach me, huh?"
With each nudge, Mia paused to sound out the tricky words, and Biscuit's patient presence seemed to make the letters fall into place. The rustling leaves above whispered encouragement as Mia slowly began to understand the story unfolding before her eyes.
Mia and Biscuit delved into the magical world of the story, where fairies danced and brave knights embarked on quests. "Look, Biscuit, a dragon!" Mia exclaimed, her eyes wide with excitement.
Biscuit barked playfully, as if he too could see the vivid imagery that Mia's words were painting. Together, they laughed and imagined, the story coming alive through their shared adventure.
As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the garden, Mia realized she had read through several pages all on her own. Her heart swelled with pride, and she hugged Biscuit tightly.
"Thank you for being the best reading buddy, Biscuit," she whispered, her voice full of gratitude. Biscuit licked her cheek, as if to say he would always be there to help her.
Later that night, tucked into bed with Biscuit curled up at her feet, Mia held her book close. The moonlight streamed through the window, casting a gentle glow on the pages.
"Tomorrow, we'll read even more," she promised her sleeping companion, feeling a newfound confidence. With Biscuit by her side, Mia knew that the world of stories was hers to explore.
