Dad hummed a cheerful tune as he packed his suitcase, unaware of the watchful eyes tracking his every move. Victoria, the little puppy with a heart full of mischief, sat at the bedroom door, her ears perked and her tail twitching with determination.
"Going on a trip again, huh?"
Her little paws padded quietly across the carpet as she approached the suitcase. With a swift flick of her nose, she nudged a sock out of sight under the bed. Dad, oblivious to her antics, reached for his favorite shirt, neatly folding it and placing it in the suitcase.
"I swear I had a pair of socks here," he murmured, scratching his head.
Victoria seized the moment, darting back and forth, her little tail wagging furiously. She grabbed a toy from her basket and placed it carefully in the suitcase. Dad chuckled as he spotted the bright red toy peeking out from between his clothes.
"I see what you're up to, little one," he laughed, gently removing the toy.
Refusing to give up, Victoria trotted to the door and plopped down, her large eyes pleading up at Dad. She let out a small, forlorn whimper that tugged at his heartstrings.
"Oh, Victoria, I'll be back before you know it," he assured, bending down to scratch behind her ears.
Dad wrapped his arms around the little puppy, feeling her soft fur against his skin. He placed a gentle kiss on her head, promising her a quick return. Victoria snuggled closer, her earlier antics forgotten as she relished the moment.
"We'll have a big adventure when I get back, okay?"
Victoria watched as Dad lifted the suitcase, her heart at ease knowing he'd come back to her soon. With one last wag of her tail, she followed him to the door, a silent promise in her eyes to be waiting when he returned.
"See you soon, my little guardian," he said with a smile, stepping out into the bright day.
