Miko the monkey was perched on his favorite branch, savoring a juicy berry. His eyes twinkled as he watched the world come alive around him. Birds chirped their morning songs, and a gentle breeze rustled the leaves.
"Good morning, Crocky! I saved some berries for you," Miko called cheerfully, tossing a berry into the air.
"Thank you, Miko. You're a true friend," Crocky replied, catching the berry in his mouth with a grateful smile.
"Miko, my wife would love to meet you. How about you come over to our side of the river?" Crocky suggested, his voice tinged with unease.
Miko, unaware of the hidden motive, nodded with enthusiasm. "I'd love to! Let's go," Miko said, hopping onto Crocky's back.
"Miko, there's something I must tell you. My wife wants to eat your heart, believing it must be as sweet as the berries," Crocky confessed, his voice trembling.
Miko, though startled, remained calm. "Oh, Crocky, why didn't you tell me earlier? I left my heart back on the tree. Let's return to get it," Miko replied with a clever glint in his eye.
Miko quickly climbed back onto the tree as they reached the bank. "You tried to deceive me, Crocky. Now go back to your wife and tell her you'll find no sweetness in betrayal," Miko declared, his voice firm and steady.
"I'm sorry, Miko. I was blinded by my wife's greed," Crocky admitted, the realization of his folly clear in his eyes.
Miko nodded, his expression softening. "Let this be a lesson, Crocky. True friendship and sweetness lie in loyalty and trust, not in betrayal," Miko advised, his words carrying the weight of wisdom and forgiveness.
