Bumble trembled as he heard the distant sound of children laughing outside. "I must find a better hiding spot," he whispered to himself, clutching a well-worn book for comfort.
Bumble dashed behind a row of encyclopedias, his heart pounding. Timmy, a curious boy with bright eyes, noticed something moving. "Did you see that?" he asked, pointing to Bumble's hiding spot.
Bumble watched in horror as Lily, a brave little girl, approached him. "Hello there," she said softly, crouching down to Bumble's level. "Please don't be scared," he squeaked, though his voice barely reached above a whisper.
Lily extended her hand, and Bumble, hesitantly, reached out to touch it. "We're not here to hurt you," Timmy reassured, smiling. Bumble felt his fear melting away, replaced by a newfound sense of belonging.
"Would you like to read with us?" Lily asked, holding out a picture book. Bumble nodded eagerly, realizing that perhaps human children weren't so scary after all.
Bumble settled comfortably among his new friends, feeling safe and accepted. "I guess I'm not so scared of kids anymore," he thought, drifting into a peaceful slumber, knowing he had found a place to belong.
