Jason lay bundled under his blanket, his tousled hair peeking out as he clung to the last remnants of sleep. Mia, his older sister, stood at the doorway, her silhouette framed by the soft morning light. "Rise and shine, sleepyhead," she called out with a playful grin, her voice breaking the silence.
"Five more minutes, Mia," Jason mumbled, burying his face deeper into the pillow. Mia, unfazed, stepped closer and pulled the blanket away with practiced ease. "Nope, not today. We have things to do!" she declared, her enthusiasm infectious.
Jason reluctantly sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. Mia watched him with amusement, her arms crossed. "Okay, okay, I'm up," he conceded, reaching for his clothes. Mia couldn't resist teasing him about his favorite blue pants. "You know, you always get a lift when you wear those," she quipped, recalling the countless times she'd effortlessly picked him up.
Fully dressed, Jason headed for the door, but Mia stopped him with a mischievous grin. "Let me show you," she said, lifting him with ease. "Aren't I too heavy for you?" Jason asked, more out of curiosity than disbelief. Mia flexed her arm, her muscles defined and strong. "Never too heavy," she replied with a wink.
Mia carried Jason into the kitchen, setting him down at the table with a flourish. The table was already set, a breakfast spread waiting for them. "See? Perfect landing," she laughed, pouring them both a glass of orange juice. Jason grinned, appreciating the playful start to their day.
Jason and Mia dug into their breakfast, the clinking of forks and laughter echoing through the room. "Thanks for waking me up," Jason said between bites, genuinely grateful. "Anytime, little brother," Mia replied, her eyes sparkling with affection. Together, they savored the meal, enjoying the simple pleasure of each other's company.
