Little Bill sprawled across a pile of cushions, his eyes glued to the cartoon playing on the screen. Nearby, Alice, his older sister, flipped through a comic book, while Mom and Dad debated which movie to watch next. The air smelled faintly of popcorn and salty breeze.
"I hope we get to watch the superhero one next!"
"Only if you promise not to yell during the scary parts,"
Suddenly, a strange thumping echoed from upstairs, followed by a low growl that felt out of place among the cartoons. Mom paused, remote in hand, and exchanged a worried glance with Dad. Little Bill squeezed his cushion, eyes wide.
"Did anyone else hear that?"
"Maybe it's just the wind, but let's check it out together,"
Panic swept through the room as the mysterious monster shuffled closer, its eyes seeming to glow in the dim light. Little Bill shrieked, and the whole family scrambled to their feet, grabbing each other’s hands. They dashed towards the door, hearts pounding in fear.
"Run! There's a monster!"
"Head for the porch, hurry!"
Shivering from the fright, Little Bill pulled out his phone and dialed Geo Umizoomi, his favorite problem-solving friend. The waves crashed nearby, adding to the tense atmosphere. Everyone leaned in as the call connected.
"Geo, we need help! There’s a scary monster in our beach house!"
"Don't worry, Little Bill. Team Umizoomi is on the way. Describe what happened so I can figure it out."
Geo Umizoomi[/@ch_5] arrived, his gadgets glowing. He scanned the beach house, searching for clues.]
Geo Umizoomi led the family inside, his magnifying glass illuminating footprints in the sand. The family followed, their fear replaced by curiosity. Geo inspected the living room and found a trail of muddy prints leading to the closet.
"Hmm, these prints look familiar. Let’s see who’s hiding inside,"
"Do you think it’s really a monster?"
Geo Umizoomi[/@ch_5] opened the closet door. The room flooded with light, revealing the ‘monster’—Uncle Jake, wrapped in towels and carrying a flashlight.]
Uncle Jake, sheepish and embarrassed, explained he was trying to surprise the family with a glow-in-the-dark scavenger hunt, but ended up scaring everyone instead. Laughter filled the room, fear replaced by relief and amusement. Little Bill grinned, hugging his uncle, while Geo Umizoomi gave a thumbs up.
"Sorry, guys! I didn’t mean to scare you. Next time, I’ll knock first,"
"That was the scariest—and funniest—beach house night ever!"
