Lila sat on the couch, arms crossed, her small face a canvas of mixed emotions. Her parents had just announced the arrival of a new sibling, and Lila felt a storm brewing inside her heart. "Why do we need another baby? Aren't I enough?" she mumbled, her voice barely above a whisper.
Lila's mother, Mrs. Thompson, placed a comforting hand on her daughter's shoulder. "Sweetheart, having a sibling is like getting a lifelong friend," she explained gently. "You will have someone to share your secrets and adventures with." Lila shrugged, still unconvinced, her eyes glued to the cereal floating in her bowl.
Lila lay on her bed, surrounded by her stuffed animals, contemplating her mother's words. Her gaze drifted to a picture of her with her cousins, their faces lit with joy. Grandma's words echoed in her mind, "Love is like a candle; it lights another candle without losing its glow."
Lila watched her father, Mr. Thompson, as he prepared the nursery. "Can I help?" Lila asked, her voice tentative yet hopeful. Mr. Thompson smiled warmly, handing her a soft, blue blanket. "Of course, honey. Your baby brother will love having such a caring sister." A small smile crept onto Lila's face as she smoothed the blanket over the crib.
Lila stood beside her mother, gazing at the serene room. "I think he'll like it here," she said softly, her heart warming to the idea of a new sibling. Her mother nodded, squeezing her hand gently.
As Lila cradled her baby brother for the first time, her heart swelled with a newfound love. "Hi, little guy. I'm your big sister, and we're going to have so much fun together," she whispered, excitement bubbling in her voice. It was then she realized that her parents were right; love truly does multiply, creating room for new adventures and cherished memories.
