Lily sat cross-legged on the carpet, her eyes fixed on the crib that stood across the room. The crib's soft mobile spun slowly, playing a lullaby that seemed to hum in the warm air. "I wonder what it will be like to have a baby brother or sister," she whispered to her teddy bear.
Lily watched as Mom gently rocked the new baby in her arms, a serene smile on her face. A knot of worry tightened in Lily's stomach. "What if Mom loves the baby more than me?" she thought, her heart heavy with unspoken fears.
Mom noticed Lily's frown and beckoned her over with a warm smile. "Come here, sweetheart," Mom said softly as Lily climbed onto the bed beside her. "I want to tell you about something special." As Mom began to explain nursing, Lily listened intently, her curiosity slowly replacing her worry.
"You know, Lily, my love for you is like a big, warm hug that never ends," Mom said, wrapping an arm around Lily's shoulders. "And now, there's just more love to go around with the baby here." Lily felt the knot in her stomach loosen, replaced by the soothing warmth of Mom's words.
Lily looked at the baby, who blinked sleepily up at her with curious eyes. A smile spread across her face as she reached out to gently touch the baby's tiny hand. "Hello, little one," she said, feeling a surge of excitement for all the adventures they would have together.
Lily snuggled into her bed, feeling the comfort of her teddy bear in one arm and the promise of her Mom's love in the other. With a content sigh, she closed her eyes, dreaming of the new life that awaited her with her baby sibling. Everything was going to be just fine.
