Lenny Bloom, a cheerful boy with curly hair, arrives first, carrying a worn copy of a children’s Bible. He settles cross-legged on the mossy roots, humming a tune. Soon, Orlando Rodríguez, with a quick smile and sparkling eyes, joins, followed closely by Céline Pascal, whose gentle demeanor and thoughtful gaze complete the trio.
"Did you guys bring your favorite scripture today? I found a good one about friendship."
"I did! Mine is about forgiveness. I think it’s really important, especially when we play together and someone gets upset."
"Let’s read them out loud and see what we can learn."
Céline Pascal reads from Matthew, her voice steady and clear. Orlando Rodríguez shares Proverbs, his excitement contagious. Lenny Bloom recites Psalm 23, his words comforting and familiar to them all.
"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. That means we can trust we’ll have what we need, even when things get tough."
"And Proverbs says, ‘A friend loves at all times.’ So if we ever argue, we should remember that."
Orlando Rodríguez[/@ch_2] hides behind a thick bush, while Céline Pascal searches with determined steps. Lenny Bloom accidentally bumps into Céline, causing her to trip and scuff her knee.]
"Ouch! That hurt, Lenny."
"I’m so sorry, Céline. I didn’t see you there."
"Remember what Céline read? About forgiveness? Maybe we can try it now."
"I forgive you, Lenny. Everyone makes mistakes. That’s what Jesus taught us."
"Thanks, Céline. I’ll be more careful next time. I’m glad we can learn from the Bible together."
"Now we can go back to having fun. Let’s play again, but this time, let’s be extra careful!"
Lenny Bloom suggests they use their favorite verses as passwords for their secret club. Orlando Rodríguez proposes a challenge to find a new lesson each week. Céline Pascal writes their favorite scriptures on slips of paper, hanging them from the oak’s branches.
"Let’s make this our special place, where we learn and help each other—just like the scriptures say."
"I think we solved our problems today because we remembered what we read together."
"Yeah, and next time we face something hard, we’ll know where to look for answers."
"Let’s promise to always help each other, with friendship and faith."
The old oak stands tall above them, its branches a shelter for their growing bond, as the stars begin to twinkle above their secret meeting place.
