Little Jane, a curious girl with bright eyes and a contagious smile, sat on a rock by the riverbank. Her feet dangled over the water, toes just grazing the surface. She watched the river intently, hoping to catch a glimpse of the otters she had heard so much about. "I wonder if today will be the day I finally see one," she mused aloud, her voice full of anticipation.
The Otter paused, noticing Jane, its dark eyes filled with curiosity. Jane gasped in delight, trying her best to remain still so as not to scare the creature away. "Hello there, little friend," she whispered softly, hoping her voice would carry warmth and friendship.
Jane reached into her pocket, pulling out a small piece of bread she had saved from breakfast. She broke it into tiny pieces, tossing them gently into the water. The Otter sniffed the air, then paddled forward, accepting the offering. "You like it, don't you?" Jane giggled, delighted by the otter's trust.
"I wish I could stay here forever," Jane sighed, her heart full of joy. The Otter chirped in response, as if agreeing. They spent the morning together, the bond between them growing stronger with each passing moment.
Jane knew it was time to go, though her heart ached at the thought of leaving her new friend. "I'll come back tomorrow, I promise," she reassured, watching as The Otter slipped back into the water, disappearing among the reeds. With a wave, she turned towards home, already looking forward to their next meeting.
The Otter felt a sense of warmth, remembering the girl who had brought kindness to its day. It swam back into the depths of the river, content with the knowledge that it had made a friend in Jane. The river, a witness to their newfound friendship, continued its endless journey, carrying with it the promise of future adventures.
